Workshop Details
Presented by David Hanna, Ph.D.
This workshop will meet the requirements of KRS 194A.540 requiring training on domestic violence and elder abuse and will cover the dynamics of each, risk factors, treatment considerations, and legal aspects. This workshop will provide a critical overview of the mandated reporting and other changes to the law passed by the 2017 General Assembly and isapproved for Psychologists, Social Workers, Art Therapists, and Licensed Professional Counselors. Skill Level:Intermediate.
Workshop Objectives
- Participants will be able to identify new legal responsibilities required by changes to domestic violence law in Kentucky.
- Participants will identify model protocols for intervention for both domestic violence and elder abuse.
- Participants will recognize the dynamics and effects of domestic violence and elder abuse on both adult and child victims.
- Participants will be able to identify community resources for individuals who are victims of domestic violence or elder abuse.
About the Presenter:
Dr. David Hanna is a licensed clinical psychologist and since January, 2015 a behavior health program manager with Passport Health Plan. Previously, he worked in community mental health settings including 27 years for Bluegrass.org, which serves the 17 counties of the Central Kentucky Bluegrass region. Prior to his retirement from Bluegrass in August 2014, he held a variety of positions including service area manager, director of quality assurance, and chief clinical officer. From January, 2013 through April, 2014, he was the Interim CEO. Dr. Hanna has had broad clinical practice in community settings including services to perpetrators and victims of violence. In 2012, he received the American Psychological Association's Heiser Award for Advocacy and in 2013 was named the Psychologist of the Year by the Kentucky Psychological Association. Dr. Hanna received his bachelor's degree from West Virginia University and his M. S. and Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Kentucky. He completed a post-doc in developmental disabilities at the University of Alabama-Birmingham.

It is important to note that APA continuing education rules require that KPA only give credit to those who attend the entire workshop. An evaluation of the workshop must be completed. Those who arrive more than 15 minutes after the scheduled start time or leave before the workshop is complete will not receive CE credit. Partial credit may not be given.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations received on/before July 24, 2017 will receive a 90% refund. Cancellations received between July 25 and July 27, 2017, will receive a 50% refund and cancellations between July 28 and July 30 will receive a 20% refund. No refunds available after July 31, 2017.
